Opening the black box of private healthcare expenditure in Belgium

The expenses for healthcare show an upward trend. The greater part of the healthcare expenses are financed by the government. But more and more indications show that lots of people come into difficulties because of the high healthcare costs. The share of the care costs that the patient is bearing, is far from negligible.

On the 18th of April, Piet Calcoen, medical director of DKV, presents his analysis on the healthcare costs in Belgium. He will give an answer to often posed questions such as: “for how many of the expenses does the government and the additional health insurer account? What is the share for the patient? . Were the financial efforts of the government such as the introduction of a maximum bill, the OMNIO-statute advantageous? Dr. Michiel Callens (CM) and Dirk Moens (Federal public service Social Affairs) hereafter give their reactions on the analysis of Piet Calcoen.
